Review of Fragile Brilliance by Eliot Parker

I was graciously sent this book by the author to do a review. It’s been a little over a year. My uncle had died not long after receiving, as well as the anniversary of my sister’s death. I picked it back up, began reading where I left off. While the premise grabbed me & I greatly looked forward to reading it, I can’t seem to get into it. Granted I’m only on page 43, so, I’m not sure if this is a 100% fair review. Given that the likelihood that I’ll not finished it, I decided to review what I have read.

As I said, I can not get into it. It’s not that the writing is bad, or there errors, it’s just seems to be moving slowly. While the hero has been injured, he’s having personal issues his partner, his nephew has showed up out of the blue, and, he’s having work related problems, it seems anticlimactic. One would think that all of this would add to the plot, instead, it’s almost too much going on.

The writing feels wooden. What is descriptive feels too much so, almost forced.

I’ve read many books, by now I’m either really absorbed or know I’m not going to finish it.

I appreciate the time the author took sending the book to me. And, wish I could be more positive in this review. However, I’ve agreed to be honest. In doing so, it does not necessarily need to reflect negatively on anything else that has been written. In fact, if circumstances had not arisen during the time I received and began reading this book, it’s possible I may have felt more interested in this book.

Wondering

I’m the oldest of four. My three siblings were developed mentally disabled, and, have other special needs. My sister died Nov. 11, 2013. While growing up, it would’ve been nice to have had a support group. Now, I’m wondering if I should try to start one. Maybe beginning with Facebook?

Ring need help with

A ring bought for me over 20 years ago, from an antique store. I can't find anything online about it. It has the following on the inside of the band: REGCO 10K, I think. The printed is older & difficult to make out. Hoping someone can give me some info on.

Still Missing

Missing
This is Judy Tolane Wardripe. She’s my cousin missing since 12/10/1984. She was last seen about 11:30 am when checking guests into the motel owned by her dad. She was 29 the time. She disappeared with her dog and nothing else, from Bethany Motel, in Bethany, Mo. She was reported missing around 11pm by her sister when she arrived to find the motel unattended. The chief of Bethany police told me last, no new leads. There is mote info and the contact information on the Project Charely Website.

IMG_20150513_211542Here’s the flyer for my missing cousin. We’ve wondered what happened to her for over 20 years. If any information about her, please leave a comment, so, I can get in touch with you. My grandmother was her aunt. She died in 2006,she & I use to talk about Judy. Just months before she died, she’d mentioned how she wish she knew what happened to her. It may be too late from my grandmother, but, her sister is still alive. Judy’s dad died a few years ago, her mom when she was young.
