I was graciously sent this book by the author to do a review. It’s been a little over a year. My uncle had died not long after receiving, as well as the anniversary of my sister’s death. I picked it back up, began reading where I left off. While the premise grabbed me & I greatly looked forward to reading it, I can’t seem to get into it. Granted I’m only on page 43, so, I’m not sure if this is a 100% fair review. Given that the likelihood that I’ll not finished it, I decided to review what I have read.
As I said, I can not get into it. It’s not that the writing is bad, or there errors, it’s just seems to be moving slowly. While the hero has been injured, he’s having personal issues his partner, his nephew has showed up out of the blue, and, he’s having work related problems, it seems anticlimactic. One would think that all of this would add to the plot, instead, it’s almost too much going on.
The writing feels wooden. What is descriptive feels too much so, almost forced.
I’ve read many books, by now I’m either really absorbed or know I’m not going to finish it.
I appreciate the time the author took sending the book to me. And, wish I could be more positive in this review. However, I’ve agreed to be honest. In doing so, it does not necessarily need to reflect negatively on anything else that has been written. In fact, if circumstances had not arisen during the time I received and began reading this book, it’s possible I may have felt more interested in this book.
